Breast implants, including surgery,
implants, Operating Room and Anesthesia can run anywhere from 4,000 to
10,000. In my practice, the cost is presently $5,500 plus anesthesia.
There is no consultation fee and financing is available for all
procedures that I perform.
Be careful
when shopping price because all surgeries are not the same!
First, be sure you are consulting a
board-certified plastic surgeon. Not all surgeons who call themselves
plastic surgeons actually completed an approved fellowship and
boards. (See the pages "Dr. Studin" and "Check your
Surgeon".)
Second, many doctors will do surgery in
an office setting. Is this setting a safe and reassuring one?
I believe that surgery of this type
should either be done in a hospital ambulatory surgery unit or in an
private accredited ambulatory surgery facility such as
mine. These facilities have been accredited by one of the
organizations that check to make sure that such things as emergency
protocols and power backup systems are in place and working.
Third, I would recommend that
your anesthesia is supervised by a board-certified anesthesiologist.
While this is certainly not in the category of open-heart surgery, it
is surgery on you nonetheless!
Fourth, there are many choices for
placement and insertion of implants. Please take a look at the breast
implant pages, which explain these.
In some practices the doctor can
arrange for you to meet past patients. I have found that in my
practice past patients are almost always happy to share their
experiences with prospective patients that have trepidation. Most of
them sincerely appreciate the courtesy paid to them when they were the
prospective patient and are happy to pass along the kindness!
